Assessment

All students will be required to carry out a minimum of 50 hours work placement in at least one setting over the two years. This placement has to be a setting with children from birth to eight years. This course is equivalent to one A Level. The structure of this course requires you to complete one written exam, one practical based exam, and two pieces of coursework. You will study the development of children’s communication, literacy and numeracy skills. You will also learn about the benefits of play, the influence of theories and approaches to play. Finally, you will look at the physical care and health needs of children, develop skills to support their needs and learn how to recognise ill health.
