Course summary
Religion plays a key role in today’s contemporary society. This course is for you if you are fascinated by world religions, curious about religious belief and practice, and want a deeper understanding of the reasons behind why people follow religious practices and hold religious beliefs. You will also explore the links between religion, education, and other aspects of today’s culture and society. As well as focusing on religion and culture, this course will also help you develop a set of transferable skills, including giving you the chance to take part in debates and challenge your critical thinking. The course promotes an appreciation of many scholarly views. You will also acquire the skills to analyze key issues in theological and philosophical debate, identify the strengths and weaknesses of a variety of theological and philosophical theories, and construct your own arguments on a range of issues in theology, philosophy, and ethics. The course is based on the following three areas of study: Philosophy of Religion; Religious Ethics; and Developments of Christian Thought. WHAT OTHER SUBJECTS GO WELL WITH THIS SUBJECT?
