This qualification aims to develop your knowledge and understanding of the principles of IT and Global Information Systems. You will gain an insight into the IT sector as you investigate the pace of technological change, IT infrastructure, and the flow of information on a global scale and the importance of legal and security considerations. You will also develop professional, personal and social skills through interaction with peers, stakeholders and clients, as well as theoretical knowledge and understanding to underpin these skills. These support the transferable skills required by universities and employers such as communication, problem solving, time management, research and analytical skills. You will take two mandatory units to achieve this qualification, Fundamentals of IT and Global information, both of which are externally assessed. You will then study three further units which are internally-assessed and moderated by the exam board. The optional units include Project Management, Product Development, Systems Analysis and Design, the Internet of Everything, Application Design, Mobile Technology, Social Media and Digital Marketing, Software Engineering for Business, Games Design and Prototyping, Web Design and Prototyping and Big Data Analytics.
