Assessment

70% THEORETICAL EXAMINATIONS: A total of four hours assessment split over three examination papers. These will be taken at the end of the two year course in a wide range of questioning styles including; single mark, short answer and extended response questions. 30% COURSEWORK: You will be assessed in one practical performance, as either a coach or a performer in an activity. You will also be required to analyse a sporting performance in the form of a verbal assessment COMPONENT 1: PHYSIOLOGICAL FACTORS IN SPORT EXAMINATION 1 – 2 HOURS (30%) This focuses on the key systems of the human body involved in movement and physical activity and understanding the changes within these body systems during exercise. COMPONENT 2: PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTORS IN SPORT EXAMINATION 2 – 1 HOUR (20%) This focuses on the psychological factors affecting sport, including; models and theories that affect learning ; how different methods of training and feedback work and why their effectiveness differs from person to person. COMPONENT 3: SOCIO-CULTURAL ISSUES IN SPORT EXAMINATION 2 – 1 HOUR (20%) This focuses on the sociological and contemporary issues that influence and affect physical activity and sport for both the audience and the performer, and how sport affects society. COMPONENT 4: NEA (NON-EXAMINED ASSESSMENT) COURSEWORK (30%) You will be assessed in either a performance or coaching role in your chosen sport, for which you must be competing regularly in you chosen sport, Alongside this, you will also complete a verbal analysis of a performer in your chosen sport, analysing their strengths and weaknesses, and suggesting a suitable training programme. Cannot be tag rugby Sailing - Candidates must be assessed within full competitive situations as the helmsperson in one of the following Royal Yachting Association (RYA) sailing boat classifications: Individual - single hander • ILCA 6 (laser radial) • ICLA 7 (laser standard) Team - double hander • 29ER • 420 • Nacra 15 Sculling Skiing - Must take place on snow, can be indoor or outdoor Snowboarding - Must take place on snow, can be indoor or outdoor Squash Swimming -Not synchronised swimming, personal survival or lifesaving Table cricket Table tennis Tennis Trampolining Triathlon -Sprint only Volleyball Water polo Wheelchair basketball Wheelchair rugby Windsurfing - Candidates must be assessed within full competitive situations in one of the following Royal Yachting Association windsurfing classifications: • IQ Foil • RS:X 8.5
