- In A Level Fashion and Textiles, you will gain a real understanding of what it means to be a designer, alongside the knowledge and skills sought by higher education and employers. - You will learn about the physical and working properties of fibres and fabrics and the methods by which they are made. - You will investigate historical, social, cultural, environmental and economic influences on design and technology, whilst enjoying opportunities to put your learning into practice by producing a prototype fashion item of your design. A Level Fashion and Textiles is an exciting area of study that enables students to delve into the world of fashion and explore their creative potential. This course offers a unique blend of theoretical and practical learning, providing students with a solid foundation in design principles, textile technology, and fashion industry knowledge. Our A Level Fashion and Textiles curriculum is written to ensure students develop a wide range of skills. From learning about fashion history and design principles to exploring textile technology and techniques, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the fashion industry. Practical sessions will enable you to refine your skills and create your unique fashion designs. During Year 12 you will embark on a series of smaller practical projects, each focussing on a series of skills which will help develop your portfolio of knowledge in readiness for your Major project. There is a focus on mathematics, ensuring that you have a working knowledge of costings and can accurately calculate quantities of materials and components for production.
