Course summary

The Pearson BTEC level 3 national extended certificate in information technology is intended as an applied general qualification covering 360 guided learning hours, and is equivalent in size to 1 a level. It is designed for students interested in an introduction to the study of creating it systems to manage and share information, alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses, but not necessarily in it. The course provides pupils with a foothold in the real IT world. Pupils are required to demonstrate a range of skills including independent learning, research and analysis skills. They will develop their use of software by using advanced tools on programs and experience a range of software from Microsoft to the Adobe suite. Independence is a key skill which they will develop to pursue a career in IT. Units include: • Fundamentals of IT • Database development • Website Development • Social Media
