Course summary

This full-time course opens up a range of career opportunities in the science industry, as well as entry into both science and non-science degree courses. It is a nationally recognized qualification that explores biology, chemistry, and physics and is valued by both employers and admission officers in higher education. Topics include human physiology, cell biology, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, and electronics. Instruction includes both theory and practical sessions, which develop both the knowledge and laboratory skills needed to succeed in the science workplace or HE. Examples of units covered include Genetics and Genetic Engineering, Biomedical Science Techniques, and Practical Chemical Analysis. During your two years of study, you will undertake a work placement. You will also hear from a variety of industry speakers, visit career fairs, and attend workshops, trips, and visits. Students can seek employment in science-related fields. Alternatively, they progress onto science and non-science-related degree courses in HE. Examples of possible degree pathways include biomedical, pharmacy, nursing, criminology or pure science.
