During this course you will read and listen to authentic German language materials and will study aspects of the contemporary society, cultural background and heritage of a country where German is spoken. You will have opportunities to develop your understanding and awareness of spiritual, moral, ethical, environmental, health and European issues. Aspects of German-speaking society: The changing state of the family, The digital world, Youth culture: fashion and trends, music, television. Multiculturalism in German-speaking society: Immigration, Integration, Racism, Artistic culture in the German-speaking world: Festivals and traditions, Art and architecture, Cultural life in Berlin, past and present. Aspects of political life in the German-speaking world: Germany and the European Union, Politics and youth, German re-unification and its consequences.
- Students require a Grade 5 or above at GCSE German, or substantial experience of speaking the language either at home or while living abroad. - At least 5 GCSE passes at grade C or above including English and Maths, with grade B in the subjects they wish to study at Level 3
Paper 1: Listening, Reading and Translation Paper 2: Written response to works and Translation Paper 3: Oral (discussion of an issue and research-based project)
