Course summary

The world of sports studies! All you need to bring with you is a willingness to learn, motivation to work independently and a winning attitude. You will be taught by 4 highly qualified and experienced teachers to guide you through the exams and assignments that make up the 2 A Level equivalent qualification. Our BTEC national diploma in sports allows you to mix both practical and theory lessons to use your strengths and physical sporting skills to influence your overall grade. You will gain multiple different skills through the varied methods of assessment from practical sessions delivered by you, presentations, work experience and written assignments. This will set you up for any future in further education or work. You will be taught 9 different units over 2 years of stimulating topics which will suit your understanding of sport and physical activity. All theories taught will be able to be turned into understanding easily as we can relate them to you and your sport. You will be looking at anatomy and physiology and how the body copes with the demands of sporting activity whilst coupling this knowledge and understanding to the fitness training and programming unit where you become a personal trainer and lifestyle coach for an individual. You will also look at the fascinating element of how we learn and improve skills through the psychological unit - skill acquisition, you will become a sports scientist completing fitness tests and analysing the results, you will assess and treat sports-related injuries, learn about sports as a business and complete a week's long work experience placement in the world of sport!
