Course summary
The study of Business at A Level offers clear progression from GCSE. The course will allow you to build on the skills, knowledge, and understanding already gained. The course will allow you to gain a holistic understanding of business in a range of contexts. You will acquire a range of relevant business and generic skills, including decision-making, problem-solving, the challenging of assumptions, and critical analysis. The course is split into four Themes, examined at the end of Year 13 by three written exams: Theme 1: Marketing and people - In this theme, students are introduced to the market, explore the marketing and people functions, and investigate entrepreneurs and business start-ups. Theme 2: Managing business activities - In this theme, students explore the finance and operations functions, and investigate external influences on business. Theme 3: Business decisions and strategy - In this theme, students develop their understanding of the concepts introduced in Theme 2 and explore influences on business strategy and decision-making. Theme 4: Global business - In this theme, students develop their understanding of the concepts introduced in Theme 1 and explore business activity in a global context.
