Course summary
This course provides an excellent platform for careers within the sport, fitness and leisure industries and can support entry into higher education. It is a vocationally delivered course with a strong emphasis on practical lesson and therefore develops the skills and knowledge students will need to thrive in a professional sports and fitness environment. Students are assessed through written exams, practical assessments and assignments based upon real-life sporting scenarios. Charles Darwin School has a thriving sport department with outstanding facilities. The qualification covers either 4, 9 or 14 units. This course is the equivalent to one, two or three A-levels depending on the pathway chosen. Pathways allow students to combine other A-Level Courses or focus all their efforts on Sport. Grades are: Pass, Merit, Distinction and Distinction* Career Opportunities: To Higher Education to study a Sport-based degree or to train as a PE teacher. This course can also lead to employment, either before or after a degree, in the Sport and Fitness industry. These include a Physiotherapist, Nutritionist, Coach, Leisure Centre Manager, Personal Trainer, Sports Therapist and Sports Psychologist.
