The study of English Literature gives students the chance to experience and explore a canon of intellectual and linguistic excellence, whose effect can be illuminating and life-enhancing. Literature A-Level fosters analytical and expressive skills which are wholly transferable and as such this course continues to hold considerable prestige among universities and employers alike. Over the course of the two years you will study contemporary poetry and a poetic movement, prose, Shakespeare and drama texts from a range of time periods. The coursework gives students enough freedom to pursue their own literary interests.
- Grade 6 in both English Literature and English Language GCSEs - Students need a to achieve a minimum of a grade 4 in Maths and one of the English GCSEs, and ideally a GCSE Average Point Score (A.P.S.) of at least 4.0, in order to be able to access any of our Level 3 Vocational and A-Level courses.
20% Coursework / 80% Exam
