Course summary

Sociology is the study of society and of its impact on people and their behaviour. Sociologists are also interested in how this can differ between groups on the basis of their social characteristics e.g. gender, ethnicity social class or age. WHAT WILL I STUDY? • Educational underachievement. • The diversity of families in Britain and the role that they play. • Social inequality. • The role of the sociologist in understanding and researching society. • The causes of and explanations for criminal and deviant behaviour.
