Personal investigation (60% of the final mark) The personal investigation is a practical unit supported by written material. Students’ are required to conduct a practical investigation into an idea, issue, concept or theme which sits alongside an essay. This is an in depth study which is reflected in its 60% weighting. The study should demonstrate the student’s ability to construct and develop a sustained line of reasoning from an initial starting point to a final realisation. Externally set assignment (40% of the final mark) Students will be given question papers with a choice of eight starting points in which they are required to select one.
