Course summary

Computer Science is a creative subject that combines invention and excitement. Computer Science will value computational thinking, helping students to develop the skills to solve problems, design systems and understand the power and limits of human and machine intelligence. The A-Level in Computer Science qualification is divided into three components: Computer systems (40%) Algorithms and programming (40%) Programming project (20%) The emphasis will be on problem solving using computers through computer programming and algorithms. There will also be a focus on the mathematical skills used to express computational laws and processes, e.g. Boolean algebra/logic and comparison of the complexity of algorithms with less emphasis on ICT skills. The programming project will have a principle focus on coding.
