Course summary

This qualification is intended for those who want to gain the knowledge and abilities that will enable them to gain the underlying knowledge of electrical installation. The Level 3 qualification is aimed at those who have already completed the Level 2 qualification and therefore have some knowledge of the industry. This qualification is for those who want to work as electricians in the building services engineering sector. This qualification does not make learners fully qualified electricians. This is a practical and theory-based course, where you will learn through underpinning theory sessions. Practical assignments are also carried out in the college site area where you will learn key principles. This course is supported by individual and group tutorial sessions. The qualification will help you gain an understanding of the skills required within the electrotechnical sector. You will cover compulsory aspects such as: • Planning and overseeing electrical work activities • Principles of Electrical Science • Electrical design and installation practices and procedures • Principles of inspection, testing and commissioning electrical systems • Inspecting, testing and commissioning electrical systems • Electrical system fault diagnosis and rectification • Requirements for electrical installations These units may be subject to change and are only representative at this point, however, we keep these as up-to-date as possible.
