Unit 1 – The World of the Hero (H408/11) A 100 mark (2 HR 20 MIN) written paper worth 40% of your overall mark. Unit 2 – Culture and the Arts (H408/23) A 75 mark (1HR 45MINS) written paper worth 30% of your overall mark. This paper consists of some short knowledge questions, 10 mark questions where a candidate is asked to analyse a passage of text or a visual source, as well as 20 and 30 mark essays on people, culture, plot and themes of the Invention of the Barbarian module. Unit 3 – Beliefs and ideas (H408/33) A 75 mark (1HR 45MINS) written paper worth 30% of your overall mark. This paper consists of some short knowledge questions, 10 mark questions where a candidate is asked to analyse a passage of text, as well as 20 and 30 mark essays on the people, politics and events of the Late Roman Republic, plot and themes.
