History
Course summary
History involves debate and argument. You will have the opportunity to work on these skills both in class discussions and in essays. History is a literary subject so you will have the opportunity to complete a wide range of reading and research that you will be able to apply to your studies. Through the course, you will complete a piece of independent coursework as well as study the following units, Year 12 - You study two topics: • America from 1917 –1980, which includes looking at women’s rights, civil rights, gay rights, the political structure, and social and economic changes. • The partition of India, which looks at the effects of British colonial rule on India. Year 13 • An Historical Inquiry into a subject of your choice. • The British Experience of Warfare 1790-1918 which looks at the Napoleonic, Crimea, Boer and First World Wars.
