This is a two-year course in A-Level Art, Craft and Design. Students will have the opportunity to combine with other creative qualifications such as Photography and Textiles. The course will progress towards students developing a personal portfolio of work, final pieces and undertaking a practical exam. Students will learn how to use a broad range of media and techniques including painting, drawing, printmaking, digital processing, relief and sculpture. This is in addition to being taught the history of Art, contextual studies and critical reflection. They are expected to work independently to develop a certain theme or respond to an assigned brief, however they will be given the opportunity to specialise with any media of their choice.
5 x grade 5 or above (including GCSE Maths and English Language) Grade 5 (or Level 2 Merit) in a creative subject i.e Art, Textiles
This qualification is predominantly coursework based with a practical exam at the end of the second year. Students will be awarded marks for developing a sustained project, which includes evidence of experimentation, investigation of different techniques/ processes and an ability to create personal responses.
