Students who study Sport BTEC develop an incredibly well-rounded understanding of working, or further study, in the Sports Industry. The course both expands on topics studied at GCSE and introduces new topics. This course is assessed through a mixture of exams, controlled assessments, practical performances, written assignments and presentations. All Sport BTEC students will study Anatomy and Physiology, Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Wellbeing, Professional Development in the Sports Industry, and Sports Leadership. Sport Diploma students will extend their education with units in Application of Fitness Testing, Practical Sports Performance, Coaching for Performance, Investigating Business in Sport and the Active Leisure Industry, and Skill Acquisition in Sport.
- Grade 4 in Sport Studies GCSE - For students who have not taken Sport Studies GCSE: grade 4 in Biology GCSE (for Single Scientists) or grade 4 in all Biology modules (for Combined Scientists) - Students need a to achieve a minimum of a grade 4 in Maths and one of the English GCSEs, and ideally a GCSE Average Point Score (A.P.S.) of at least 4.0, in order to be able to access any of our Level 3 Vocational and A-Level courses.
