Sociology
Course summary
This is a 2 year linear course. Sociology offers students the opportunity to question sociological ideas that are present within modern society, and to understand British values and community through sociological concepts. Through the use of articles and debates, students will develop a critical awareness of the reasons why societies and communities function the way they do, and to express their own opinions within Sociology. What is feminism? What impact does social class have on education? Is crime a good thing for society? In fact, is crime needed for society to function? Studying Sociology at A-level can lead to careers in social work, journalism, teaching, working in the police force, and also into research, marketing and advertising. Careers can also be pursued in counselling and working in voluntary organizations.
