Assessment

Component 1 The personal investigation consists of classwork and homework and is worth 60% of the marks. Students work on this during the later stages of year one and the majority of year two. Students develop work based on an idea, issue, concept or a series of related outcomes. It must be supported by written work of between 1,000 and 3,000 words. Component 2 This is an assignment that is set by the examination board and is worth 40% of the A level; students will get the question papers at the start of February in the second year. There will be a choice of eight questions to be used as a starting point. Students will work on their projects until the 15 hours of supervised time during which a final piece will be produced.
