Course summary
Are you interested in understanding why individuals think and behave differently, in the same situation? If so, Psychology could be a subject for YOU… In order to be successful in Psychology you essentially need to be a thinker, preferably ‘outside the box’! You need to be good at linking several disciplines, such as: Biology, because we look at how biochemistry and genes influence our behaviour. Philosophy, as it’s how our own attitude acts as a guiding principle for behaviour. You must be able to express your thoughts and ideas in depth, analysing using research as a support. Completing an OU intermediate course on the History of psychology. Constantly looking for extra research studies using Google Scholar. This adds depth to longer questions. Reading newspapers, journals, watching psychological films etc. Watching and listening to relevant TED lectures.
