he Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering course is delivered in two 1-year blocks. Year one is an Extended Certificate in Engineering and covers general engineering units such as engineering principles and product design and manufacture. This makes it a suitable course for those who wish to pursue a career in general engineering at a later point. Year two covers the additional units required for the Aeronautical Diploma and specializes in aeronautical units such as gas turbine engines, propulsion systems and mechanical systems. These units are supported by trips to RAF Cosford and the RAF Museum to view different aircraft types and their component parts and to use facilities such as the wind tunnel.
