As you might expect, this is the study of both English Literature and English Language. You will need a passion for both reading and writing in order to succeed on the course. If you do not enjoy reading independently then it isn’t the course for you! This course is an ideal starting point for those interested in careers such as law, journalism, education, politics and any other vocation that requires a strong understanding of how language works.
To enter any Level 3 course you will need 5 Grade 4 – 9s (A* - C) GCSE English Grade 5 is preferred. A grade 4 may be accepted following discussions with the SPL / Head of VI Form on suitability
Unit 1: Poetry and Prose (exam worth 30%) Unit 2: Drama (exam worth 30%) Unit 3: Non-Literary Texts (exam worth 20%) Unit 4: Coursework worth 20%
