Physical Education / Sports Studies
Assessment
The course's content is split into six areas: Applied Anatomy and Exercise Physiology, Biomechanical Movement, Skill Acquisition, Sport Psychology, Sport and Society, and Contemporary Issues in Physical Activity and Sport. A Level PE is distinctly divided into two assessment methods; a Non-Examined Assessment (NEA) component and a written terminal examination. The NEA component of the qualification accounts for 30% of the overall grade (15% practical performance in one sport and 15% oral analysis of performance), while the remaining 70% is assessed through written examinations. Practical performance marks rely heavily on students participating in Sport at club level and we would advise this for anyone opting for A-Level PE.
