Course summary

This Apprenticeship involves carrying out skilled work, primarily using timber products, either on a construction site, or in a workshop, creating and installing building components. This is a core and options apprenticeship, with two pathways: Pathway 1: A Site Carpenter will normally work on a building site, or in domestic and commercial premises, preparing and fixing building components, from the initial erection of a new building, through to the installation of all necessary fixtures and fittings, as well as a range of repair and maintenance activities. Pathway 2: An Architectual Joiner will normally work in a Joinery workshop creating timber products such as windows, doors and staircases in preparation to be installed on site. A joiner will be required to use a variety of tools and machinery in the manufacturing of these timber products. The course will develop your knowledge and skills associated with Carpentry & Joinery introducing you to the various tools, equipment and materials you would use. You will initally develop your basic woodworking skills working towards more complicated tasks dependant upon your chosen pathway. The knowledge and skills that you will learn on the programme will support your development within your working role as a Carpenter or Joiner.
