Music performance (Group)
Course summary
Music is constantly evolving, inspiring creativity and expression in a way that no other subject can. Developing and applying musical knowledge and skills can ensure that students form a personal and meaningful relationship with music. They will be encouraged to engage critically and creatively with the music to through research, practical application, evaluation and review. This course has a total of 90 credits. The course had 1 externally assessed core unit and 1 internally assessed core unit. The remainder credits are made up of a range of units covering all areas of the music industry. These can include: Composing Styles/Lyrics, Lead Performer, leading a Music Making Activity, Auditioning for Music and many more. The external unit is an assessed live performance. This unit assesses the student’s ability to plan for, undertake and evaluate a 15-20-minute performance. The scenarios vary and are set by the board, but these can include auditioning for a music label, taking part in a charity event, performing at a school open evening, performing in a festival et. Students can perform as soloists and/or in groups (ensembles).
