Course summary
This is an exciting and enriching course which is designed for students to explore the reading process and find enjoyment in literary texts. You will have the opportunity to analyse and interpret a range of literary texts from across the centuries. The focus is on your individual perceptions and your ability to express this in a coherent and sophisticated manner. University courses in English or to support any subject where a sound knowledge of Literature in its social and historical contexts is required. English Literature also strengthens most university applications, especially medicine, as universities like to see that applicants have good literacy skills and can analyse and interpret written texts. Key content: - Paper 1 Literary Genres (Tragedy genre) - Paper 2 Texts and Genres (Elements of political and social protest writing) - Non-exam assessment: Theory and Independence
