Music performance (Group)
Course summary
This two year course aims to provide you with the skills needed to succeed in the music industry or progress to Higher Education. You will be encouraged to widen your musical horizons through performance, composition, instrumental, recording and theoretical skills. Unit 1—Practical theory and harmony— You will develop an understanding of the signs and symbols associated with notation of pitch, rhythm, tempo, dynamics and expression. You will develop an understanding of scales and chords through composition. Unit 2—Professional Practice in the Music Industry—You will develop your knowledge on the professional skills that are important in the music industry. Unit 3—Ensemble music performance— In this unit you will develop ensemble performance skills by taking part in rehearsals and a final performance. Unit 5—Music performance session styles— You will explore a range of genres and styles through performance. These units are designed to support progression to more specialist music courses in higher education and to link with relevant occupational areas such as composition, business, technology and performance.
