Course summary
The Advanced GCE in Spanish has been designed to deepen your knowledge and understanding of the language and Spanish culture in Europe and the Spanish-speaking world. At Advanced Level GCE in Spanish you will cover 7 units of work which include: • Theme 1: The Evolution of Spanish Society (changes in family structure, the working world, touristic impact) • Theme 2: Political and Artistic Culture in the Hispanic World (music, media, festivals and traditions) • Theme 3: Immigration and Multicultural Spanish Society (positive impacts, confronting challenged to immigration and integration, social and public reaction) • Theme 4: The Franco Dictatorship and Transition Towards Democracy (Civil War and rise of Franco, Franco’s dictatorship, transition to democracy) • Grammar • Literary Texts and Film - The study of two texts or one text and one film • Individual Research Project – to be discussed in the speaking assessment By the end of the course you will have learnt the fundamentals of the Spanish language enabling you to travel, live or work in a Spanish-speaking country.
