Course summary

Physicists deal with enormous questions and problems. Do you want to investigate the limits of space or the beginning of time? Do you want to understand more about the technology around us? How about saving the planet or making people better when they get ill? We’d be a bit lost without physics. Think of all the gadgets we take for granted and the electricity supply that charges and powers them. The World Wide Web was invented by a physicist. Imagine the world without the internet! There are millions of students in the world and to get a job you have to stand out. People are always impressed by a qualification in physics. Whatever your career plans are, the knowledge and skills you gain by studying physics will be useful. Physics allows you to develop numerous transferable skills that are valued by employers and can complement your other subject choices, whatever they might be. These include a practical approach to problem solving, often using mathematical formulation and solution, the ability to reason clearly and to communicate complex ideas, IT and self-study skills and investigative and experimental skills.
