Assessment
The course is divided into three groups, Core Pure Mathematics, Further Statistics 1, and Decision Mathematics. Core Pure Mathematics expands on topics covered in Mathematics A Level in addition to including work on new topics such as Complex Numbers and Matrices. Further Statistics 1 expands on material taught in the Statistics module in Mathematics in A Level, covering material such as the Geometric Distribution and Chi-Squared Tests. Decision Mathematics has close links with Computing and Economics. It covers topics including Linear Programming, Critical Path Analysis, and Algorithms on Graphs. At the end of the course, students will sit 4 exam papers, each counting for one quarter of their total grade. The first 2 exams are on their work in Core Pure Mathematics. The 3rd and 4th exams are on their work in Decision Maths and Further Statistics 1.
