Course summary
Mathematical Studies is a level 3 course that is worth half an A level. It is recognised by universities and employers and carries UCAS points as per an AS qualification. It is suitable for anyone who does not wish to take mathematics at A level but is taking subjects with a significant maths content, for example applied science, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, business studies, economics or psychology. It is strongly recommended for students taking chemistry, physics, biology or psychology. Mathematical Studies is suitable for anyone with a level 5 or better at GCSE, however there is a significant algebra content, so this should be borne in mind when deciding whether this is the right course for you. There is also a strong focus on percentages and statistics.
