Course summary

A-level Psychology will give you an understanding of the way people think and why people behave in certain ways. If you’ve ever wondered ‘what causes addiction? Or ‘why do some people conform?’ then Psychology might be for you. Topics studied in the first year include: Social influence, Memory, Attachment, Approaches, Biopsychology, Psychopathology and Research methods. During the second year of the course students will study: • Schizophrenia • Gender • Addiction • Research methods • Issues and Debates A level Psychology is a very useful (although not essential) basis for degree level study in the subject. Many of our students go on to study psychology at university. Psychology is a well-respected degree for a range of occupations including Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Nursing, Teaching, Marketing, Social work and many more. Psychology aims to investigate a wealth of human behaviours. This stimulating subject combines fascinating content with a rigorous and scientific approach to investigation. Studying Psychology will equip you with a variety of skills including analysis and evaluation, improved communication, problem solving and critical thinking. Psychology students at The Chase have produced consistently excellent results. There is a strong interest in the subject and past results have been very encouraging, with 100% pass rate each year, and the majority of students achieve A*-C grades.
