Course summary
Health & Social Care will give you a broad introduction to the health and care field encompassing a “real world” approach. This course should appeal to students who want to have an interest in working in health care, education or social care. You will cover a range of health and care topics such as studying the services that are available and biological, sociological and psychological aspects of health and care. You will develop strong skills in time management, interpersonal relationships, communication, motivation and independent study. In addition, you will increase your skills in academic literacy, statistical analysis, numeracy and research. By putting together evidence for your portfolio you will further develop skills in report writing, essay writing and presentational skills. You will study human development across the lifespan and how our life experiences affect us. You will also look at the different job roles and responsibilities of those working in the health and care sector and you will examine the different types of health care and social care and how these are applied to different individuals.
