This course has been designed so that candidates will acquire the essential knowledge and understanding of central aspects of sociological thought and methods, together with a range of skills. This course lays an appropriate foundation for further study in Sociology and related subjects in higher education. Sociology is the systematic study of society’s structure, development and composition. The focus is on topics such as The Family, Education, Stratification, and Crime and Deviance. There is also a focus on research skills, reviewing sociological methods and the application of collecting, collating and analysing data.
