The A Level Art/Craft/Design course structure requires students to develop their ability and show a range of skills. These include: • an interest and enthusiasm for art/craft.design • an ability to be analytical and reflective about renowned artist work and their own work • explore the use of drawing for different purposes, using a variety of methods and media on a variety of scales. • experience of exploring a range and variety of practical techniques and processes such as, painting, three dimensional work, textiles, mono printing, lino printing, screen printing and editing. • understanding of pictorial space, composition, rhythm, scale and structure • appreciation of colour, line, tone, texture, shape and form. • the ability to respond to an issue, theme, concept or idea or work to a brief in art/craft/design
A minimum of grade 5 at GCSE Art 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (including English and Maths).
Yr 12 Portfolio Projects Internally assessed preparatory projects of foundation skills leading to the personal investigation unit. N/A Yr 13 Personal Investigation Practical Project Personal investigation supported by written element of 1000-3000 words, set and marked by the centre and moderated by AQA. 60% Yr 13 Examination project (Externally Set Task) - theme choices set by AQA • Preparatory period + 15 hours supervised time • Work produced will be marked by the centre and moderated by AQA 40%
