Physics
Course summary
YEAR 12 COURSE CONTENT Salters Horners Applied Physics Throughout this course, you will be developing your knowledge and understanding of what it means to work scientifically in the context of physics and its applications. Each chapter is carefully designed to help you to become increasingly competent in manipulating quantities and their units, in planning, carrying out and evaluating practical experiments, and in communicating your knowledge and understanding of physics. In return, you will obtain a greater understanding of the world around you. You will gain a greater understanding of the fundamentals behind mechanics, DC circuits, quantum theory, relativity and thermodynamics. Dedicating your time to this course is hard work but facilitates a deeper understanding of how and why machines and systems work rather than the mere acceptance that they do. The content studied includes: • Mechanics • DC Circuits • Material Science • Quantum Mechanics • Wave Theory YEAR 13 COURSE CONTENT Content includes: All modules in year 12 and: • Further Mechanics • Particle Physics • Modelling the Universe • Nuclear Physics • Thermal Physics • Gravitational Fields
