Course summary
Sociology is all about human behaviour; it looks at how society works and how the various parts of society relate to each other. Core features of the course include the different views sociologists have about the subject, the disagreements surrounding the nature of society and the various ways researchers learn about the social world. Studying Sociology at A Level will help you to gain the essential knowledge and understanding of central aspects of sociological thought and methods. You will consider the integration of sociological themes: • Socialisation, Culture and Identity • Social differentiation, Power and Stratification. Over the course of 2 years, we will cover the following topics: • Research Methods with Families and Households • Education and Methods in Context • Beliefs in Society • Crime and Deviance with Theory and Methods
