Course summary
Philosophy, Ethics, and Religious Thought are central to world views, history, and society across the globe. It is a subject that gives you an opportunity to gain a grounding in the motivations and perspectives of key philosophical, ethical, and religious concepts which are integral. If I were to meet someone who I knew would turn out to be a mass murderer would I be justified in ending their life in order to save thousands of others’ lives? To what extent are my actions really free? By taking the subject at A Level you would be engaging with some of the oldest subjects ever studied to some very modern ethical issues: from the Ancient Greek ideas about whether or not we live in a physical reality to how justified it is to end someone’s life.
