Course summary

Sociology is the study of society and involves looking at topics such as the class structure of modern societies, the family, religion and crime and deviance. You will build up a skill set that will allow you to analyse, assess and evaluate key theories ranging from Marxism to Postmodernism and you will soon start to develop a sociological imagination. Sociology leads to a wide range of careers such as: Social Work, The Police Force, Criminology, Government Research, Journalism, Teaching, Counselling and Human Resources.
