Course summary
This course aims to encourage an interest in, and promote the study of Philosophy and Ethics. In particular, students should: • Develop an understanding and appreciation of philosophical and ethical thought and its contribution to individuals, communities and societies • Adopt an enquiring, critical and reflective approach to the study of Philosophy and Ethics • Reflect on and develop their own values, opinions and attitudes in the light of their study. The course consists of three units: 1. Philosophy Ancient philosophical influences to modern day perspectives 2. Ethics Ethical theories, the application of these theories, ethical language and thought 3. Developments in Thought Individual human nature to corporate social action
