Art and Design (Photography)
Course summary
Each year the A Level Photography students produce up to 3 images that they submit into the City Gallery ‘Open Exhibition’. This project gives the students a taste of working as a Professional Artist as they produce and present their work to gallery standards. This highly creative course aims to give you the confidence and skills to explore a diverse range of themes, and to develop a questioning and analytical attitude to photography. There are a variety of briefs set which will develop and underpin your research skills. You will be introduced to portraiture, landscape and studio work. You are encouraged to explore and experiment with a range of traditional and new photographic media (film based and digital applications). This is an art based subject so creativity is a key element of the course. You will create visual ideas through responses to a brief that are supported by analysis and evaluation as well as use of a range of technical equipment. Gateway is known for an outstanding end of year exhibition which is open to the public. Your work may feature in this.
