Course summary

Atomic structure, Physical Chemistry, Kinetics, Chemical Equilibrium, Thermodynamics, Periodicity, Transition Metals, Organic Chemistry, Optical Isomerism, Organic Synthesis, NMR, IR and MS analytical techniques. Topics are introduced in class and developed using practical activities. In-depth study and analysis will be required independently to ensure a detailed understanding and depth of knowledge. Animations, videos, journals, trips and external lectures all help to keep the information topical, relevant and up to date. Students of A Level Chemistry should expect to complete an hour of extended study for every lesson they have, as well as completing homework and revision tasks. On top of this they should be studying for an extra two hours a fortnight minimum.
