Religious Studies A-Level is a fascinating course, covering elements of Religion, Ethics and Philosophy. Over the two years you will study: • The philosophical arguments about the existence of God, including ancient philosophy, observation and reason, religious experience, the problem of evil and suffering, and the nature of God. • Developments in Christian Thought, including Augustine and original sin, death and the afterlife, knowledge of God's existence, Jesus Christ, Christian moral principles and action, religious pluralism and society, gender and society, the challenge of secularism, liberation theology and Marx. • Ethical issues, debates and theories, including Natural law, Situation ethics, Kantian ethics and Utilitarianism, euthanasia, business ethics, meta-ethics, conscience and sexual ethics Successful students will be capable in extended essay writing, presenting, research and analysis of arguments.
- Grade 6 in Religious Studies GCSE - For students who have not taken Religious Studies GCSE: grade 6 in one English GCSE - Students need a to achieve a minimum of a grade 4 in Maths and one of the English GCSEs, and ideally a GCSE Average Point Score (A.P.S.) of at least 4.0, in order to be able to access any of our Level 3 Vocational and A-Level courses.
