Physical Education / Sports Studies
Course summary
While a small percentage of the course in PE involves the ‘doing’ of sporting activities, the subject is much more about the scientific study of sport, along with its importance within society. Learning about specific health benefits always proves popular with students looking to progress into a sporting profession, and uniquely, the subject helps develop qualities like leadership and organization. Sports' place in society is also looked at in-depth, analyzing its role in schooling throughout the ages along with the differing trends of the times. We are consistently one of the top-performing subjects when compared to national statistics. This is an excellent choice of A Level if you are keen to develop your understanding of sport and physical activity through both practical and theoretical learning experiences, willing to participate in a range of activity areas both in and out of school, committed to developing your practical performance in different areas, motivated, proactive in your learning and committed to learning outside of lessons through independent study and research.
