Assessment

The course consists of: Year 12 (AS Content – Topics 1–4) Sections 1–4 are designed to be covered in the first year of the A-level and include: 1. Biological molecules 2. Cells 3. Organisms exchange substances with their environment 4. Genetic information, variation and relationships between organisms Year 13 (A2 Level Content – Topics 5–8) These topics form the second year content: 1. Energy transfers in and between organisms 2. Organisms respond to changes in their internal and external environments 3. Genetics, populations, evolution and ecosystems 4. The control of gene expression The practical endorsement is a separate teacher assessed component that certifies students' practical competence and is awarded independently of the A level grade.
