Course summary

A level of Psychology develops an awareness of the variety and complexity of the human mind, human behavior and human relationships. Psychology is seen as a science, and studying psychology will give you a real understanding of ‘how science works’ and will enable you to investigate the causes of human behavior using various scientific methods and psychological approaches. Studying Psychology at A Level opens up a plethora of career opportunities including forensic and pathology work, marketing, nursing, teaching, therapy, accountancy and Clinical Psychology to name a few. Students will also acquire valuable transferable skills such as critical reasoning, data analysis, and the ability to conduct scientific investigations, allowing them to better navigate the post-16 world. As part of our A Level Psychology course here at The Sixth Form, we encourage the independence of our learners through super curricular tasks and project packs. Additionally, we provide a range of support mechanisms including afterschool revision and weekly academic intervention hours. To enhance our young Psychologists' learning experience we organise academic trips to Leeds, London and the local area, such as exam booster conferences and phobia.
