If you are interested in becoming one of the professionals needed to plan and manage tourist attractions, work in holiday resorts, organise tours, run travel agencies and tour operators or work in passenger travel by land, sea and air, this course could be right for you. The course is intensive and requires significant use of IT to conduct independent research. You will have opportunities to work in teams and individually. Our teaching staff have extensive experience of working within the travel industry and have numerous connections to individuals still working within the trade. We also organise many trips and visits as well as inviting speakers from key industry organisations. TOPICS INCLUDE: • The United Kingdom Tourism Product (Exam) • Worldwide Tourism Destinations (Controlled Assessment) • The Dynamic Tourism Industry (Exam) • Event and Itinerary Planning (Controlled Assessment)
A mixture of at least 5 GCSEs at Grades 9 - 4 including English.
The course is assessed with: • 50 % external examinations, an exam in May in the first year and one in the second year. • 50% controlled assessment. A series of timed tasks undertaken in the classroom during the two years of the course.
